Remember in school when you asked, “Why do we have to learn this? I’ll never use it in real life.” With our school, there’s no question how our knowledge fits into your very real, everyday life. The good news?! There will be no term papers or final exam. Your pass / fail grade will be that little furry thing that keeps peeing on your carpet and chewing on your most beloved items (good thing it’s cute). But unlike your semester of PSYC 101, the average lifespan of a dog is 10 – 13 years.

tl;dr

We’ve taken the time to break down everything you need to know, starting with the basics; classical conditioning and operant conditioning. (By the way, not only are these methods great for training dogs, they also work on children and husbands. But you didn’t hear it from us.)

don't forget

Which training method should you use? Find the one that works best for you and stick to it. You can also combine a few training methods such as luring and molding to teach the desired behavior. Make sure that you enjoy the training and don’t allow yourself to get too frustrated. All good things take time. Remember, it’s a marathon, not a sprint!
